NANTUCKET PEGGY

Nantucket Peggy is our wonderful teaching horse.

Peggy is the invention of Seth Armen of Weston, Connecticut. Seth is associated with Pegasus Therapeutic Riding, Inc., a Darien, Ct. based organization affiliated with and accredited by the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association. Seth designed and built the horse simulator with his son Ted Armen and Jane Copeland, Executive Director of Pegasus.

Peggy can help train both beginning students and disabled individuals to mount and dismount, to halt, to negotiate turns and to post to the trot. Peggy has a red light on her neck which indicates a correct halt.

A white light on the right and left side of her head indicates a correctly negotiated turn. If the student indicates both a halt and turn both lights will signal showing the mixed signals given. A pressure sensitive switch signals an amber light when the student lifts their seat off the saddle. A metronome is used to show correct rhythm, adjustable to a wide variety of tempos.

Seth and his wife Eloise made the trip from Connecticut last April 2007 to bring Peggy to her new home, Seapony Farm. Seth and Eloise were able to stay and visit Nantucket and are welcome back anytime.

They are the loveliest couple I have met in years. I hope they visit our new home sometime this year.
